Impromptu? Err…

Daily Prompt: Decisions, Decisions

How are you more likely to make an important decision — by reasoning through it, or by going with your gut?

Even if my friends ask me to meet them for a party 2 hours before it, I would hesitate…I always prefer to be organized with my schedule. When the need to take a call on an important decision arises, I always measure each and every option equally, weigh their pros and cons, do a SWOT analysis…(yes Im pretty OCD that way) and only then do I choose. I have never made a small or big decision in my life without planning it thoroughly. I get excited while planning an event, making lists is my forte, If I werent in advertising I would open my own wedding agency…so yeah Ive always been more of a planner…an obsessive planner who even if inclined towards her gut feeling would check and crosscheck in order to get the best or desired result out of the decision she takes 🙂

Winter is coming…but in awhile

 

Daily Prompt: Turn, Turn, Turn

For many of us, winter is blooming into spring, or fall hardening into winter. Which season do you most look forward to?

Snowflakes and shivers, Winter is my favorite season of all! I love the cozy feeling of the weather, the amazing thing your muscles do when you stretch under the blanket…the feeling of wrapping yourself up in the amazing cold and drinking some hot latte with a good book or watching a rom com!! Ohgod I cant wait for Winter already!
Heres a more specific list of reasons
1) The amazing sleep you get, and waking up late on weekends is like a gift to you by Winter
2) Hot chocolate never tasted better, neither did a latte or a cup of tea 🙂
3) You dont need to wax your arms and legs because youre all covered up in layers!! #Laziness
4) You can blow smoke out of your mouth naturally and feel like a dragon!
5) You can bake a hot chocolate cake and eat it all by yourself! Yes the weather or the season rather increases my apetite atleast
6) You can roam around, run and jump but you wont sweat
7) Your perfume lasts longer
8) There is no need to store water in the fridge…cold water is available everywhere 🙂
9) Showers are heavenly
10) Sweatshirts and jeans is the most comfortable thing ever!

Yes so thats why I loveeeeee the winters! 🙂

My take on life :)

Daily Prompt: Alma Mater

You’ve been asked to speak at your high school alma mater — about the path of life. (Whoa.) Draft the speech.

I love giving a speech, whether its to my cousins or my dog haha No really I do! Lecturing someone is my forte! (Yes yes Im going to grow up to be a nagging mom deal with it)
So here goes!

You see there are 2 paths (ahhhh you know them by heart already but wait read on it gets interesting!) One is a nice clean path with loads of footprints and the other is a very risky path because you see no one took it…and Robert Frost would say go ahead and take the road less travelled because thats what makes YOU different…I dare disagree with him…

But think about it, in today’s world BOTH the paths look identical by now because everyone has taken the road not travelled, (Thanks to Robert Bhai) I mean you wont even be able to distinguish between both the paths! So I’d say, sit down right there at the junction…and speculate, think of the pros and cons of both the roads…Which would make you genuinely happy and satisfied? Trust me both the roads will provide their fair share of difficulties but the question here is ARE YOU READY TO FACE IT?

Competition. Wherever in the world you are today, you will have to face competition, whether you travel the path A or B (doesnt matter they both look the same remember?) Some people might derive this post as a result of my actions, I took up Mass Communication because I HATED/DETESTED Math. If I see or hear numbers I could shove a ball pen in the eye of the person who was enforcing them on me…Mum & Dad at first did want me to take up Science and trusttttt me they just CALL it Science its all Math! After a while I thought my friends would come to me and say “Hey did you read that story in english class about how alpha met gama and had a beta” (sorry for the bad joke its all dad’s fault)…but then later on they knew I had to pick my path 🙂

So yes rather than ranting on I’d just like to say that I took the road most people did take, an easy route which people would say is mass communication, and now specializing in advertising…because I loveeeee what I do, and so do most of the people in my industry clearly and trust me it isnt easy (when you travel the road only then will you know of the hurdles)…no profession in life is easy, you just need to love to learn more about your work and thats how we grow as an individual and as a society.

Some say to me till date “arey advertising? yeh toh koi bhi kar sakta hai” to which I turn around and ask them “Phir kiya kyun nahi?”
To which (till now) I havent heard a satisfactory answer

Tell us about another blogger who has influenced your own online journey.

Since I was small, I used to write a diary. Some would say its a good habit and some would ask why not express it on a public platform? Well either way I was too shy to write for people to read because Im not that great on grammar and neither am I very good with the tenses oh wait no dont run away Im pretty decent and oh so very funny I promise! 🙂

I used to be very amused by the writings of my best friend because she was so damn good and just to make her laugh and get to her Id make fun of the big big words and the deep meaning because momentarily it was fun! So after coming to college I remember ouu Journalism professor asking us to write no matter what…he said “write because you want to! Dont give a fuck whether someone doesnt like your writing I mean hey you didnt invite him/her to read your work they did it because they have nothing to do!” Which made me realise that hey maybe I should start writing…but then you know the drill..college, assignments, sleep ohhh sleeeep yeah..

Then one day this woman (You will figure out soon who she is) tells me about her blog and how she had written one very long time ago and now doesnt find the time to write anymore. When I went through her writing it was something that clicked with me…something that made me smirk, laugh and then laugh more lol Her writing was simple yet powerful, funny yet hard hitting, casual yet I couldnt get up before it was over…Her blog was about the usual yet so bloody extraordinary you know something that I read and went Oh man why didnt I think of that? or wow I could have thought of that! I personally know she never knew (oh dear so much knowing) that she was my inspiration to write…to blog. I wanted my writing to be entertaining so that a smirk stays on your pretty face yes you whoever you are Ms/Mr/Mrs kind soul for reading this 🙂

She has encouraged me for life and even if I went to her with a 1000 grammar errors but an entertaining piece of writing shed say Its Amazingggggggg 😀

Daily Prompt: The Transporter

Tell us about a sensation — a taste, a smell, a piece of music — that transports you back to childhood.

Wow childhood, I think I grew out of that only when I arrived in Pune. Haha…no really! See the place where I was brought up would actually sound as a tale from the arabian nights!

The other day my friends and I were discussing about how the sheesha parlors are shut now in Maharashtra and drinking age is 25…and thats when I realized how we as kids never ever faced such restrictions!

Muscat…the city which seems like an oyster now had protected us young adults from the big bad world out there! Life was blissful and people never needed a reason to party…yes its a dreamy city. Its a blend of happening and laid back…the right mix of both which made it impossible for people to believe that there exists a world filled with hardship and turmoil, oh and Im talking about just the kids, our parents on the other hand worked their asses off to basically help us afford this lavish and luxurious living. But we as kids, wanted everything we got eventually 🙂 From school after parties to late night beach parties, there would be expensive booze, dancing, fancy cars, fancy phones etc…SPOILT is an understatement. Yes some people may argue saying ohhh but we struggled our way through high school…to which I would wonder if it was removing glitter nail paint off our toes or picking out what to wear for farewell the most difficult task we had to undertake. If you dont believe me you should know the minute I landed in muscat this time I went straight to my neighbor’s house, had champagne gulped down my throat (thanks Bimal Uncle!) and smoked some sheesha even before I could drink a glass of water! See what I mean by the prefect life?

When I tell my friends here about my life in Muscat they are AMAZED by the glittering glamour I was a part of in the city. Although after coming to India, I wouldnt say I have matured like a responsible adult, but matured enough to understand how Life has so much more to it than all that…and how I need to struggle my way through it all to achieve the same!

P.s: The sensation was the sheesha smoke smell that started the whole conversation that I ranted about for the past 15 minutes soo yeah 😀
